Sorry if this has been asked before.
Are there plans please?
Alternatively is it best to stick with the Android standard Mail application?
Please answer for non technical users.
Thank you.

Nothing I've heard of in the works for Android version of Thunderbird.
I've been pretty happy with an Android email clievt called Maildroid.

Thank you.
I use whatever comes with my Android device but I wonder if there is something that works with Thunderbird on my Laptop.

There are versions of Thunderbird for Windows, OSX and Linux. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ is the full download listing for different languages/platforms.
You do not have to create a new profile on your laptop. You could tell Thunderbird to use a copy of your existing one. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_p ... hunderbird

After some trials and errors, I settled on "Aquamail". It does threaded mail and works almost like Thunderbird without any personal filters or junk mail rules.
