Seamonkey Crash on Email Account Creation Exit

Post by Ross Caldwell »

On creating a second email account, on clicking on Finish at the end of the wizard, SeaMonkey crashes. This is a repetitive problem. It crashes with the following message .....

We're Sorry

SeaMonkey had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts.

To help us diagnose and fix the problem, you can send us a crash report.

..... SeaMonkey then attempts to send a report but fails .....

The report if sent would have the following data (I have replaced the email address shown below with xxxx to protect the innocent. It is the same email address as is associated with this mozilla registration. ......

Hi Ross Caldwell,

Some SeaMonkey crashes are actually caused by Java or Flash. You need to use the latest versions of Java and Flash. Hope this will help you.

Really? :-s Plugins are run in a separate process... so that if plugin or plugin-container crashes that SeaMonkey doesn't crash too...

Also this crash is clearly about SeaMonkey Mail not SeaMonkey browser. I think plugins are disabled by default in Mail, so unless the OP enabled them manually for some reason, plugins are irrelevant to this issue.

Only theoretically. Crashes in Flash have been bringing down SM and Fx quite a bit lately.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

Has there been a solution or work-around for this problem as I am encountering it every time I click <finish>?

Thanks!

t, here's the Report ID bp-96a3cba3-c044-4e20-a125-704650180402 4/2/18 9:15 AM

Otherwise, I don't what you're asking for. It was an email operation that crashed.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... extensions

Not sure if this helps but please remove the obsolete venkman extension and upgrade DOMi to 2.17.1 (see release notes) and ChatZilla to the latest 0.9.93

This points to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=857043

but no solution.

Try to temporarily disable avast.

F, sorry but everything you say, while being welcomed, is above my knowledge level.

Any thoughts appreciated!
