error when trying to connect with facebook

cant open facebook and many other sites since i update firefox... and i have been using them for years with firefox..the error message appears... Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.facebook.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
REALLY...?? me call facebook and say they dont know what they are doing...?

There are several financial institutions also and some general sites.

I hate to say it...but IE here i come...any help would be appreciated...i like firefox

What antivirus are you using?
Does it inject itself into SSL streams?

THERUBE....i am using a paid version of AVG, have for a long time. Firefox has been great until updated...to me SSL streams is a place to fish..i am a 70 year old with some technical knowledge but thats it. Thanks for the reply

Try this & see if your SSL errors go away?

open AVG and click "Options" -> "Advanced Settings" -> "Web Browsing Protection" -> "Online Shield" -> "Expert Settings"
uncheck "Scan encrypted (TLS and SSL) network traffic" option
