clear text input fields addon?
there was an addon in the pre-quantum era that let me clear text input fields -within the web page as well as location and search field) with a simple click.
does there exist a new addon for that? - can't find it

Re: clear text input fields addon?
What extension was it?
(Perhaps you could pull the clearing code from it & convert it into a bookmarklet to do the same?)

Fire 750, bring back 250.

Re: clear text input fields addon?
as i told you, firefox dont need that.
https://www.stigviewer.com/stig/mozilla ... ng/V-57593
this is different from
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Features/Form_Autofill
(system extension)
at least you dont need a search bar - firefox has the unified bar since ages - which means that you can use the addressbar as searchbar too. and it shows up the possible search engines below when the drop down is opened. get more familiar with quantum!

Re: clear text input fields addon?
Brummelchen, he is not talking about dropdowns entries. It's about the textboxes themselves. He may prefer clearing a textbox with a single click if he relies a lot in the X clipboard and he doesn't want to lost its content by accident before Paste, as many other Linux users.
I would expect that there was an related add-on for web content, at least. For the searchbar, I put together something a time ago; it remembered me that I need to amend that code...

Re: clear text input fields addon?
as i wrote - when leaving a site with box firefox wont enter anything again when pref is set, same when opening a site.
when entered data and page changes firefox wont fill it again.
if he is filling and was wrong thats not firefox part.
something like extension "clear field" is absolut not necessary.

Re: clear text input fields addon?
i get that but you did not get yet that firefox with the linked pref settings wont pre-fill any formular nor the search bar. if you have entered some text than its up on you to change or delete which is not that complicated as you want me to believe. and sorry, workflow? if you dont need a formular just ignore it - firefox wont pre-fill and leave it empty after changes.
maybe you fill some more forms as me - but that wont explain your "workflow"
currently there exist nothing similar and you have to deal with it.

Re: clear text input fields addon?
Brummelchen, it's Ok not knowing about some, eh, peculiarities of the Linux users, but do not act as he is "wrong". It's nothing about prefilling, and nothing about forms. It can be text manually written by the user himself in a textbox. If this Linux user want to delete the whole text without selecting the text itself so the content of his X clipboard doesn't get overwritten, he usually can use: 1) Ctrl+backspaces to delete a word each time: fairly fast, or 2) clicking in a "clear field" button, provided by some websites, or, for a more general deal, by a few legacy add-ons: it's the fastest approach.
I did a fast search in AMO and found nothing Quantum-compatible. Maybe I will write something for it after migrating to ESR 60, some time after it hits release.

Re: clear text input fields addon?
I agree with the original potser, and I use Windows.
Before FF57, I used Clear Input Field Text 1.8.1, which placed a very small red X circle icon at the right edge inside each text input field that had text. It was quick and easy to click this X button, no highlighting required. And I used it often. It was very convenient.
I wish it would work in FF57+ and also have found no direct replacement that does.

Re: clear text input fields addon?
investigated a minute - only
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... form=linux
-> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... y-control/
-> https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-med ... 191534.png
now what?
form history control ofc offers more, but it can clear forms by context menu.
maybe you find some to shorten the functionality with a new extension.

ok, this is a nice detailed explanation, so it is a problem in this combinationIf this Linux user want to delete the whole text without selecting the text itself so the content of his X clipboard doesn't get overwritten
