The ad covering the newspaper is happening again.

Now I realise what type of ad and layout it is. It's when the ad gives the impression of being a billboard in the background and as you the reader scroll you glimpse it through a moving strip. Have a look at www.smh.com.au right now and you'll see what I mean. I can view it in Firefox but in SM the billboard that's supposed to be in the background floods the whole page.

Does this happen to anyone here at all? Any ideas on new fixes?

Just improve your filter list. I don't see such ads there because they were blocked:

Code: Select all

*ads.*.com*

You can add exception for filters to not use them on particular sites (if you want such thing).

Hi everyone, tried everything suggested above, but still the newspaper smh.com.au has these occasional ads that just obscure all the text.

Looking at the above posts I see no one else has had these probs or if they did the about:config changes of settings fixed that. What could be so different about my version of Seamonkey that it does this? Should I think about reinstalling it?

I've been in contact with the paper's online chat and they finally shut my enquiries down by saying they didn't support Seamonkey and I'd just have to view it in another browser. Yet I've been reading their paper online for as long as I've had SM, over 10 years.

Thanks

I didn't made any special setting, just above filters (set long before I've visited that website), and I don't see any ads. Ah! Make sure that "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" is disabled in Adblock Plus settings.

See if enabling "FF compatibility" makes any difference on your end?
Edit | Preferences | Advanced -> HTTP Networking ==> Advertise Firefox compatibility
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Tested FF compatibility, then restarted but no change.

So Adblock Plus is way to go? I'll give it a go. Thanks!
