Here is a Firefox Portable 60b16 setup for 32/64 Bit Windows. It includes the latest version of CustomCSS files where some settings already changed to what you where asking.

Code: Select all

https://www.dropbox.com/s/8fr3g2rh56g7nus/FirefoxPortable.zip?dl=1
Unzip the file anywhere and run FirefoxPortable.exe.

Custom css files can be found in .\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\chrome\ folder.

all that leaves is the tab color which I changed myself.. however its not working for some reason.... ?_? :(

I uploaded a complete Firefox Portable folder so you can use it and check what is different on your system. Otherwise I would have shared the chrome folder only.

It sound like you might be using browsers dark or light theme, but not the default one. In any case test everything inside the portable setup first.

that is I changed "classic_squared_tabs.css" so that the colors matched the ones I wanted...
no go.. maybe I am doing something wrong..

ok I checked the portable version in full the color tabs are showing up...
I wonder why its not when I use only the Chrome folder...??

yeah.. some things are working fine like coloring the icons for some of the FF UI...
BUT other things like tabs are on top instead of the bottom like they should be..
I copied the Chrome folder from the portable app folder's profile folder... still...

It means on your default setup is something different. Check your themes and set the default one, if light or dark themes are enabled.

Make sure you are not using any other add-ons, that can modify the ui, like Vivaldifox or Native Dark.

I also suggest to think about creating a new browser profile every now and then as your current setup seems to be highly resistant against modifications.

You are using Firefox 59 or 60, right? This forum does not show the user agent anymore, so I have to ask.

ok yeah.. I use FF Themes/pictures....
to make it less of an eye sore....

temp change back to default theme --> did bring out the tab colors...
but the [+] new tab was purple on hover-over only... hmm...

I didn't use a default setup when I created a separate profile for FF 57+ I just copied my main profile and cleaned it up after launching FF 57

The new tab changes I added to the bottom of the userChrome.css, because modifying 'new tab' tab independently from normal tabs was not something this project does by default.

There are only lw-themes left in Firefox 57+. Even the dark and light themes are internally lw-themes and color modifications of this project to not target lw-themes.

could you try asking or resubmitting your v1.7.4 update to Mozilla please?
I had to remove it and revert to v1.7.3.x because the workaround was messing updates for other extensions.. sadly... :(

Install CTR_v1.7.3.5.beta1_fx45-56_last.signed.version.xpi, it is equal to 1.7.4, only the version number is different.

On Classic CSS tweaks for Firefox Quantum v1.8.4 in windows 7 with only tabs on bottom and aero blue the inactive tab text is very dark (almost the tab color). In an old version was white. I don't know in what version this change happens.

my configutation:

@import url(./config/general_variables.css); /**/
@import url(./config/color_variables_aero.css); /**/ /* <- 'AeroBlue' colors */
@import url(./css/tabs/tabs_below_navigation_toolbar.css); /**/ /* <-- tabs not on top */
@import hurl(./css/toolbars/general_toolbar_colors.css); /**/

edit:
Last good version: 1.7.5.
If i don´t import "@import url(./css/tabs/tabs_below_navigation_toolbar.css); /**/ /* <-- tabs not on top */" the colors are fine.
This issue is on windows 7 only.

Windows 7s Aero theme is the only theme, that adds a purple tab background color to default tabs. I will replace that color for "tabs not on top" mode on next update to make ui more consistent between different OS themes and OSs.

Windows should not be doing that as its inside Firefox...
no, I set the color of the newtab tab to purple myself so it would stand out..
bg = #CC33CC
and the tabs are on top and I prefer tabs to be below the nav bar.... :(

I was wondering why Mozilla decided to use purple background colors for non-active tabs on Windows 7 with Firefox theme instead of grey like done with "light" theme.
All other themes use a variation of grey or the same grey everywhere making things easier to maintain. Its just impossible to use the same tab text color everywhere for every case, if tab colors differ from default theme to default theme. It kind of defeats the purpose of calling something "default".

Curved tabs is something I'm not going to add to CustomCSSforFx project, but there is one project dedicated to them here: https://github.com/wilfredwee/photon-australis/
Hi Aris,

You helped me to move the whole navigation bar to the bottom of the page with the css code above last year. It worked really well. Thanks again. Unfortunately, Firefox 60 has broken it. It looks like like this now!

My urlbar is overshadowed by the link location and most importantly my bottom scrollbar has disappeared.

Would you please help me with the coding again! Thanks in advance!
