Sony Playstation Store 100% utilizes GPU and causes stutter

Post by Franpa »

If I leave a video in view for a while than eventually the stutter will stop and everything will be smooth and happy, but if I try to scroll the page to bring another video element in to view the GPU will again skyrocket to 100% utilization and the frame rates will tank (same when scrolling back to a previously viewed video element).

According to Task Manager the bottleneck is my video cards ability to decode video (often sits at 100% utilization for Video Decoding when scrolling the page). CPU utilization never exceeds 40% on any Core, even with Kernel activity visible (My CPU is currently running at the stock 2.66GHz).

In that case, why post this as a Firefox Bug? Are you running the latest driver for your video card?

I was deciding between the Support and Bugs forum, I guess it may be more appropriate in the Support forum. I kinda felt like maybe it's a bug with how Firefox is handling the content which is causing anomalously high GPU utilization... though maybe the website is just very computationally heavy in general and it isn't Firefox's fault.

I should see how well my dads computer handles it, it has an Intel 620 iGPU (i5 4670).

Yes, I'm using the latest drivers from the Nvidia website (and have tried a couple older releases too).

uninstall noscript and nocoin as ublock replaces both.

insert this list into uB
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hoshs ... nocoin.txt

and get familiar with its blocking matrix which is superior to noscript
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/ ... uick-guide

videos are embedded and hosted on YT, eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhZmybfPEvk
loading content makes page slow here also. but it also depends on line and graphics card as you noticed.
