Video DownloadHelper

Post by Anakunda »

Hi, I can't get the addon working. If I visit page with video it properly identifies all formats and offers them to download, but if I select to d/l one of them, nothing happens. Having version 7.1.0 which is more than year not updated. Don't know if that's issue but FF offers me no updates.

The current version is 7.3.5. The version 7.1.0 is really old.

I'm using the following bookmarklet for yt videos.

YouTube Download

JSCompress

Edit:

The bookmarklet is currently broken in Firefox. It still works in Chrome.

7.1.0 works in FF 54?
Or what browser are you using?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

I have FF 54 and no newer VDLH version is accepted. Tried in Chrome latest version which already works, but not licensed allows only one download per 2 hours, which is considerable restriction. So DlHelper is no way to go.
Can I get a recommendation about generic free addon that would be able to grab video virtually from any page?
DlHelper seem the only addon working generic, others specialise mainly to YT, FB and few others.

I'll bite, but just how do you do it?

What I tried...

copied the code, prefixed it with, javascript: (& "made" a bookmarklet out of it).
visited https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w36z7XnwOM & clicked the bookmarklet

But... nothing?

(With the exception of Youtube) FlashGot still works fine.

Maybe try VDH 6.3.3 (or 6.3.1) & see if that actually downloads?
(And yes, 6.3.3 is even older then 7.1, but at least at that point it was fully Legacy.)

@therube

Oops. I tried the bookmarklet in Firefox. It seems to only work in Chrome now.

Downloading YT videos has become a chore for me since around the 1st of this year.

Now I use a free program named "1-Click YouTube Video Downloader" and find that one works nicely for me. The only problem is it doesn't download 1080 videos (but I think that's a problem with YT).

Thats no yt problem, limitation is based on license. No license = free > 720hd only.
Same for any yt download extension.

Oh, I had forgotten that little fact... but 720hd is good enough for me anyways.

Here's an absolute insider tip:
Try VDHL on a Linux, for example Linux Mint.
There's no license required within this OS.
