Update 62.0 buggy

For me, today's update has been a disaster, even after I tried a reboot. Every single time I close Firefox, I get the error message that we're sorry but the program has crashed and will to start whatever page I had when I reboot. Of course, I close pages before I exit Firefox, and anyway I closed it rather than seeing it close/crash prematurely.

I chose the other option on the open tab, to close Firefox, but no matter. Same problem will recur the very next time I run Firefox.

Not seeing anything of the sort here.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

I hate to create a new profile, meaning basically starting over, restoring all my settings, bookmarks, etc., etc. But surely I haven't installed any new themes or extensions, just the requested update.

Hi, Did you try Dan's 1st suggestion & start in Firefox Safe Mode?

Update from what?
If it was pre Quantum, leave the old 'Legacy' leftovers behind and start fresh with a New Profile.

I did try safe mode, so it's not a conflict with my extensions. (Of course, that wouldn't have made me too happy about the new version of Firefox if it were.) To be honest, I didn't get the popup, and indeed didn't get it every single time before. However, on the occasions when I did not, I could see three copies of Firefox incorrectly still active in the Windows task manager. And also on the occasions when I did not, when I tried to start Firefox, I got a different error popup -- that the program was still open and would have to close first, which it would do automatically if I asked to continue (which it did).

And indeed that's what happened with safe mode, except for the detail that I was seeing only two rather than three copies incorrectly still active. (Can the reference to bookmarks. I just forgot that in safe mode at the time I wasn't seeing the toolbar.)

Maybe I can try a new profile or Monday. I honestly don't have half a day today to re-add and customize all my settings, extensions, passwords, bookmarks, etc., etc. But again, if there were a corruption, surely it wouldn't have emerged spontaneous and coincidentally with the upgrade. And if there were a conflict, surely it would be with an extension and vanish in safe mode.

That would be in Options > General > Firefox Updates > Show Update History.

Just to be clear, that has nothing to do with Quantum. It was the most recent upgrade, as always. (I have it set to notify me but not install by default.) And I vividly remember the Quantum change many months ago, as it sped up Firefox considerably, although it obliged me to waste time replacing extensions such as my ad blocker. So the thought that, say, my current extensions such as an ad blocker are the problem is just laughable.

I think Sanitizer is "clear history at shutdown" which might run at startup if Firefox crashed.

could be lastpass again. but uninstall ublock or uninstall yesscript - but dont use both.

i found something

as you work on windows 10 "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64" there is no need for such crap on win10.
uninstall and remove -> https://www.avg.com/en-ww/utilities
this should solve your problem!

btw the driver for graphics card intel hd 5500 is outdated.
