Thunderbird light on dark
I recently upgraded to Thunderbird 60. I my previous Thunderbird versions I used to have a dark theme - meaning that, in essence, everything would be light on dark in Thunderbird. In version 60, that extension (and any of the others that I have tried) do light-on-dark in the menus alone. As a result, most of the areas of interest in the email client remain in bright black-on-white - which I want to avoid, for it hurts my eyes. Is it possible to configure Thunderbird 60 so that EVERYTHING in it, not just the menus, is light-on-dark?

Yes. Try using the Monterail Full Dark theme at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... dl-created or the Moneterail Dark theme at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... src=search . Another possibility is Metal Lion SeaMonkey at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... dl-updated . Unfortunately the TTDeepDark theme doesn't support version 60 yet.
You may have to restart Thunderbird several times to get the theme to be recognized due to a bug in version 60.

Replying again, for I don't know if my original reply made it.
Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, there was no joy, at least not with the the Monterail ones. In the first place, the AddOn Manager built into Thunderbird 60 claims that those addons are not supported. I downloaded and installed them by hand, and even after restarting Thunderbird five times (making sure that the Monterail addon was enabled) it remains black-on-white, as before.

Good news: after fiddling a bit with the different addons and restarting Thunderbird a few times, I got one of the Monterail themes to stick. I am still getting more black-on-white areas than I would like, but it's a start. I'll investigate the others that you pointed out. Thanks.

I overlooked the "Dark" theme that is bundled in version 60.

Unfortunately, that Dark theme is not really that dark - it darkens the toolbar and menus, and little more. The only one that has worked for me so far is Monterail Full Dark.tanstaafl wrote:I overlooked the "Dark" theme that is bundled in version 60.
