Not asking to save passwords

Post by Kracov »

I'm using FF 56. I tried upgrading to the new firefox but too many of my addons were incompatible and not many good replacements. When i reinstalled 56.0, I restored my profile, it no longer asks to save new passwords. I'm still logged in old sites where my password is already stored. I tried disabling all addons and disabled tracking protection. It still won't ask to save passwords. Maybe there's something in about:config I need to reset?

Did you use the same Profile, 56 -> 62 -> 56 ?

Do no site ask, or only certain sites?

You're profile is corrupt. Starting I think at version 58 once you have that you cannot go back to a previous profile. You need to create a new one. There are major changes that happened, so going back to an earlier version with the same profile is not an option.

You may be able to, but I'm not familiar enough to tell you what file it is, and there may be other files than just passwords that are corrupt. IMO the best thing is to have sync enabled, and let Firefox save all your profile info, and then do a clean install with a new profile, and then sync it, and let Firefox restore your info. Here are some links that should provide more info than I can.

Ugh that was infuriating. Firefox automatically installed the newest version when I created the new profile. How do I disable updates?

I read both posts, and i think i have the same options checked. However, when -creating a new profile- the problem is that firefox updates immediately. I keep -forgetting- that it does this, so i was hoping for an easier option than remembering to turn off automatic updates every time i create a new profile.
