Why do Twitter links load in Edge?
I don't understand this. Firefox is my default browser, all HTML extensions are set to load in Firefox, and all links in emails other than to Twitter load in Firefox. Is there anything I can do to get Twitter links to load in Firefox as well?

Re: Why do Twitter links load in Edge?
In case the context has been lost, I'm referring to links to Twitter in Thunderbird emails. If I'm in the Windows Twitter app (which loads from Cortana) and click on a Twitter link, I'm asked if I really want to switch to Edge (which is not my default browser) but it I'm in Twitter in Firefox, the link also loads in Firefox. I'm now even more confused.

Okay, I'll move it back. Can you use view -> message source or control-U to look at the raw message source and copy&paste a paragraph that has the link?

Re: Why do Twitter links load in Edge?
That's too mangled for me to get it to work. However, if I copy&paste something like https://twitter.com/search?q=vancouver% ... d&src=tyah or https://twitter.com/Outdoor_Rev in a plain text message it takes me to that web page in my browser.
I suggest you test using a URL in a plain text message to see if the problem is trying to parse the URL in the HTML or a problem with handling twitter links. You seem to be using a URL for the https://twitter.com web site rather than using twitter:// as prefix for a URL.

Re: Why do Twitter links load in Edge?
I have identified what is going on here. I was mistaken in thinking that the links were opening in Edge. In fact a Twitter app had been installed unknown to me, and the links were opening in this app not Edge. I have now uninstalled the Twitter app (which apparently Microsoft "helpfully" added in a recent update). Twitter links now open in Firefox again.

@nedsram
You bet me to it. I observed that behaviour a couple of days ago, and the Twitter application is responsible for that. Applications seem "the way to go", so expect to see more and more silly behaviours like that.
