Thunderbird v60 MinimizeToTray No Longer Works

Yesterday my Thunderbird wanted to update so I let it. It updated from version 52 to 60, and the MinimizeToTray extension quit working. After some research I didn't see any good solution, so I installed the older version 52 back. When will there some sort of solution for this? I have turned updates completely off now, until there is some fix or other option. Very much a deal breaker for me.

The MinimizeToTray add-on never even formally supported Thunderbird 3.x though it kept working. I suggest trying https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... y-revived/ . If you have problems installing it try setting extensions.strictCompatibility false using the config editor.

It was a nice try, but it was already the revived version I was using. I did try the extensions.strictCompatibility false setting to it let it install, but the extension was clearly not compatible as when trying to change the options, the screen did not load correctly and it locked up and Thunderbird had to be killed by task manager.

I also had another instance of Thunderbird update on me at work, and along with the same issue, it also messed up my Lightning calendar. I spent an hour getting that back to normal when reverting back to version 52. Updates are now turned off, I am sticking with the last version of 52. I have been using Thunderbird for several years, and that was the worst update experience ever.

One of most recent comments in the issues web page stated:
"If there is a gap in the path to the email profile, this add-on doesn't work for example: c:\email profile.
If it is free of gaps it works for example: c:\email_profile"

It looks like the fix for that bug is in version 1.4.6 which isn't on thunderbird.net yet. https://github.com/ysard/mintrayr/releases/tag/1.4.6dev warns you "do not try this at home" so I assume it needs a more debugging. In the interim, if you want to try the version on thunderbird.net you might need to move your profile out of the normal directory tree to something like c:\profiles.
