Clicking on New Mail Notification Freezes TB -- Help!
When a notification pops up notifying that new email arrived and I click on the notification to view the mail, TB freezes. How do I fix it?

What version of Thunderbird?
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. To answer your question, the same thing occurs in safe mode. I got the latest version, 60.3. What do you suggest?DanRaisch wrote:What version of Thunderbird?

Menu path Tools->Options->General->When a new message arrives->If "Play a sound" is checked, try changing the selecting sound file.

I never opted for sound before and I never had this issue. This issue just started last week. I'm very confused as to why you'd suggest sound as the culprit. I dont get it. Anyway what do you suggest?DanRaisch wrote:Menu path Tools->Options->General->When a new message arrives->If "Play a sound" is checked, try changing the selecting sound file.

I suggest you do what was asked, unless the sound was not enabled

A) Don't get snarky if you are serious about seeking support here.
B) Why are you resistant to trying the suggested adjustment?

This doesn't tell us that the feature is not enabled

Because each of us answers hundreds of questions a year, of the various 20some million users, and we tend to know what the current/hot issues are.

You didn't have to enable it. As noted by wsmwk it's the default settings. Sound enabled with a specific .wav file specified.I never opted for sound before
And you did come here for support so why not defer to those trying to provide it?

So youre saying you dont have a solution from general settings. Since thats the case is there a possible solution in config editor?
