hoopla digital reports unsupported browser

Post by leishirsute »

hoopla digital reports unsupported browser for latest release of Seamonkey 2.49.4 .

https://www.hoopladigital.com/supported

Any suggestions to get this website to work with Seamonkey?

What is it supposed to do? All I get is a blue page with "hoopla" in large white letters.

Try setting your user agent to imitate Firefox. Instructions are at the last post here http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3044104 but use general.useragent.override.hoopladigital.com instead of google. Or use the UA switcher extension also mentioned in that thread.

I did not see a UA switcher extension when searching extensions in Seamonkey.
I found it for Firefox.
Is there a Seamonkey version?

I ended up using general.useragent.override.hoopladigital.com and value
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:52.9) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/3.4 Firefox/52.9 PaleMoon/27.9.3

Hoopla didn't like it either.

Oh well. I'll just use Chrome for Hoopla. It's a flaky website.

It's a video streaming website, so it should eventually display a login screen and movie selections.
It works okay in Chrome.

Changing the user-agent did not change anything.
I tried it with my other 3 browsers. The only one that showed anything different was Safari. That one is supposed to be supported, but I got the "unsupported browser" message with that. Maybe they do not like MacOS.

I get the same message using my Firefox Nightly.

I think we may be linking directly to the error page which would always show an error. To test, try https://www.hoopladigital.com/ instead.

Sorry about the confusion. I've been accessing https://www.hoopladigital.com/ .
The Hoopla logo is displayed and then redirected to the error page.

Hoopladigital has gotten pretty strict with access. Even their IOS app no longer works. The Android app still works.

  • :-k Using the url above (hoopladigital.com) and changing the user agent to firefox 64, I have no problem accessing that page:

    Image
  • Type about:config in the Address Bar and press Enter to display the list of preferences.
  • Ignore the warning message.
  • Right click >> New >> String >> general.useragent.override.hoopladigital.com
    >>> Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0
  • Restart SeaMonkey.
  • Done! :-"

    Cheers!! 8-)
