When I receive an email with an embedded video (MP4, MPG, MOV) it will not play when clicked on.
I get the following error msg...
"Package could not be registered"
If I move it to my desktop, same result, but if I move it to THUMBS-PLUS, it plays normally.
It used to work OK until last Tbird update or the one before.
Win 10 Tbird 60.4.0
Tbird won't play or display media

I embedded a mp3 file in a HTML message using Thunderbird 60.4 under Windows 10 and it works okay. The first time I tried to play it I had a popup wanting me to choose what program to associate with that file type (I used windows media player), but afterwards it just played when I clicked on it.
Try saving that attachment and seeing if it will play if you double click on the file in windows explorer. If it doesn't that implies that Windows doesn't have a associated application for that file type and Thumbs-Plus probably used its own file associations. Your last Windows Update might have somehow broken the file association.

My video association was set to "Movies & TV". I reset to Media Player and now they all work.
Thank you for the fix.
