How is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

Profile manager is not a separate program in current versions. You access it using a command line switch ( "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P ) or by holding down the Shift key while clicking on the shortcut for the Firefox program.

No, it doesn't. I posted the wrong link. Try -- "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -P
Note the space between the close quote and the hyphen. That's important.

Or try holding down the Shift key when clicking on the short cut for Thunderbird on the Windows desktop or on the program name if you view C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\ to find the .exe file.

If you use Windows Explorer to view the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\ directory and find the Thunderbird.exe program in it, then if you double click on the program name while holding down the Shift key, what happens?

OK, then you've found the program .exe file and can create a new short cut to launch Thunderbird with the profile manager. To do that, right click on the program file (Thunderbird.exe) and select Send to->Desktop (Create shortcut). Then the new desktop short cut is create, right click on that short cut and select "Properties". In the target field you should find "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\Thunderbird.exe". Click after that close quote character and add a space followed by a hyphen (-) and the letter P. Click on "OK" to close the dialogue. Make sure that Thunderbird is NOT running. Then double click on the new shortcut to launch the profile manager.
