Quick Folder Move Add-on

Post by ep2012 »

Hi,

So I've been using this add-on religiously for I don't know, 10+ years, & I just updated to the latest version of TB & it says it's supposed to work, but it's not :(

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... lder-move/

I never had to use shortcuts before when using it, but even now when trying the 3 shortcuts, nothing happens.

I REALLY need this add-on.

I even e-mailed the developer, but I also e-mailed him in Dec. 2017 & never heard back.

Can someone PLEASE fix this for me. I really need this & there isn't anything out there like it.

Thank you

The Quick Folder Move extension works here.

The three keyboard shortcuts open a search box popup and the move, copy and navigate features work correctly.

No errors in the console.

Thunderbird 60.4.0
Windows 7 SP1 32-bit

P.S.

Try disabling all extensions except the Quick Folder Move extension, then restart.

So it no longer just opens the window with the field where you type in the name of the folder when you just go to "Move?"

You have to use the shortcuts to get to that window?

I'll have to disable them b/c it's not working for me & I need the other ones too. I don't even have that many compared to years ago.

Thanks

The "Move To" and "Copy To" menus open a search box popup for me like the keyboard shortcuts.

Ok, I figured out the culprit add-on. It's FolderFlags.

I had that enabled before & it didn't cause problems, so something has obviously changed.

Thanks

Are you the developer or a user?

If you are a user, I've had this issue for years with this add-on.

Besides there being the search box, it's also supposed to give you the last 5+ folders you filed e-mails into so you can just quickly file them there.

Anyway, mine doesn't do that.

I get maybe 1-2 recent folders, & the rest are ALL inboxes.

It drives me insane.

Does it do that for you too?

I'm not the Quick Folder Move developer.

I created the following five folders in Local Folders, then copied a IMAP message to each folder.

* Alpha
* Beta
* Gamma
* Delta
* Epsilon

Now I can see the five folders in the search box popup.

Then I selected the Templates folder. Now I can see the Templates folder in the search box popup. That's a bug I would say.

Then I disabled the extension and restarted. Now I can not see the Templates folder in the list of recent folders.

That's correct behavior since I never moved or copied a message to the Templates folder.

Hi,

I had to get my geek friend to help me understand what your saying.

1. What recent folders area are you referring to? Is there a different area or different add-on you are referring to? I thought the recent folders are the ones on the right that I had to blur out.
2. We don't know what you mean by "templates folder."
3. So this is a bug right? If I was able to have 20+ recent folders (NOT inboxes) show up every time I filed mail, I'd almost NEVER have to even use the search box

Thanks

1.

Recent folders are folders which have been recently used for moving or copying.

Default behavior without the Quick Folder Move extension:

right click on a message > "Move To" menu > "Recent" menu > popup of list of recent folders
right click on a message > "Copy To" menu > "Recent" menu > popup of list of recent folders

The extension developer writes about "recent folders" in the description.

Quick Folder Move
http://addons.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/addon/12018

2.

Message templates
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_: ... _Templates

3.

I think the behavior is a bug.

Sorry for the delay, I only now got to discussing this with my friend.

So we turned the add-on off & you are right, the TB recent folders are there. I had no idea that was a feature b/c I've been using this add-on for YEARS. So the add-on is screwing with that feature of TB :( Unfortunately the developer never responds back to me & I told him this was an issue 2-3 times already not knowing he was covering up TB's code.

Can you get in touch with him?

Having those recent folders would help me file mail a LOT.

Thanks
