I can't figure out how to copy my Firefox Quantum (65.0) passwords to Seamonkey 2.49.4.
Copying the logins.json and key3.db files from the FF profile to SM's does not work.
I have some 300 PWs so I can't use SM if I can't do this.
How is it possible to do this?

I am not sure key3.db is still used. It is supposed to be key4.db and cert9.db. You probably need secmod.db too. In any case this will probably work only using the unofficial 2.53 and then 2.57.

Re: Copying PW's from FF to SM
key3.db ceased to used by Firefox from version 58 onwards. cert9.db is a certificate database and is irrelevant to this issue.frg wrote:I am not sure key3.db is still used. It is supposed to be key4.db and cert9.db.
Find a Firefox password exporter extension? Otherwise you will not be able to use any other browser, let alone SM.Regats wrote:I have some 300 PWs so I can't use SM if I can't do this.

- Please, check the following options/alternatives:
- How can i export my password with Firefox 58.xxx or higher Version?
- PasswordFox - Extract the user names/passwords stored in Firefox
- GitHub - kspearrin/ff-password-exporter: Easily export your passwords from Firefox
Cheers!!

Re: Copying PW's from FF to SM
For some installations cert9.db might be needed. I always copy the three and login.json. If you want the exceptions too you also need permissions.sqlite.
Unoffical 2.53 uses key4.db. NSS is at 3.40.1 from 60 right now. Plan to bring it up to 3.42 soon if no extensive backports are needed:

Password Backup Tool:
- Export and import passwords saved in Pale Moon browser. Also allows to import from Chromium based browsers (Windows only) and Firefox 58+ (key4.db). To do so just open Import Passwords dialog and paste the path to the password database for the corresponding browser from the list below or manually navigate to the required profile and select "Login Data" or "logins.json" file. The browser that you importing data from must be closed during the import.

Re: Copying PW's from FF to SM
I need to do the same thing, xfer passwords from Firefox to SeaMonkey, but I have FF v56. My SM is the same version as the OP, 2.49.4
Does the above apply?

(2.49.4. Not even 2.49.5, much less 2.53.1.)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

I don't understand your response.

2.49.4, released July 2018
2.49.5, released November 2019
(both are "obsolete" at this point, though for XP, 2.49.5 is the last SeaMonkey)
2.53.1, released March 2020 (with 2.53.2 pending)
Both 2.49.5 & 2.53.1 are going to be more secure then 2.49.4.
(Backup prior to updating - whichever direction you go.)
