Outlook address on SeaMonkey

Post by Bluelead »

I purchased a laptop and installed SeaMonkey 2.49.4. I now want to receive email from my Outlook.com email address I established for myself. What do I use for Incoming server name, port and Outgoing server name? Also, thank you for all your help over the 10 years, which I have been on MozillaZine.

I made these adjustments, but I received the following error message:
"An error occurred with the POP3 mail server. Mail server imap-mail.outlook.com responded:"

I composed an email and tried to sent it, but received this error message:
"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

What now?

Are you entering your full Outlook email address for the user name value in SeaMonkey's server settings?

I tried the full email address, just that portion up to the @ symbol and the user name. All failed.

It says that POP is disabled by default, that you have to actually enable it (if using POP).
Have you done that?

It was suggested in the first message to us imap. I will try to use the wizard to start all over again.

I deleted/removed by the Wizard the previous mailbox in SeaMonkey that was not working. I started a new session and when I finished, SeaMonkey crashed. Never seen that before and the old box remained. Also. Outlook is not accepting my password. Now what to I do?

If by that you mean that you can not access your Outlook account using a browser, it indicates that you need to use the web site's links to reset that password. Then completely delete the profile created by the initial installation of SeaMonkey ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_SeaMonkey ), after which you can create a new profile and try adding that Outlook account using the newly reset password value.

Try changing that server name to outlook.office365.com.
