Firefox ESR

Post by fixit7 »

I read where FF Esr will let some addons work.

Am looking to get ReminderFox working.

I tried FF Esr 60.5, but my addon attempt said it was no compatible.

I tried 52.9, but it would not start.

Any other options?

When it would not start, was there an error message? In a recent thread someone tried to run the 32-bit Firefox on 64-bit Linux, make sure you got 52.9.0 64-bit.

Thanks so much. I had downloaded the 32 bit version.

Now ReminderFox is now running. :-)

One more thing. I want to make sure that FF never updates the ESR version.

I have done these.

There is a way to disable updates by going through the Options menu but after disabling it through there, when you would go to Help > About Firefox, it would update regardless of that setting. 2 methods here, pick one. You can set these prefs in about:config to disable automatic updating:
app.update.auto - false
app.update.enabled - false
app.update.silent - false

Try this:
kerft wrote:Close Firefox.
Edit the file C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js
Make the line say pref("app.update.channel", "esrDisabled");

I think if you modify the pref in about:config, then the browser overrides the pref in the channel-prefs.js file.

Something strange happened this morning.

My firefox ReminderFox extension was removed.

Did Firefox do that?
I reinstalled it.

The reminder data was still present?

reminderfox wont run with x64? tales!
i think its fixed to a previous 32 bit build of firefox. you need to re-install reminderfox, or if that dont help - uninstall and reinstall.

that is same effect as mozilla archive format (maff) which put path to firefox in registry depending x86 or x64. reinstalling helped.

I have restarted computer 3 or 4 times and ReminderFox is still installed.

Another one of those mysteries. :-)

Thanks. It stopped the prompts.
