Can I separate email groups ie: yahoo, Gmail, etc?
Yahoo: name1, name2, name3
Gmail: name1, name2, name3
AOL: name1, name2, name3
I can do this with postbox and would like to transfer the less used names to another program. I tried to attach a pic, but this forum does not show a way to do it.
Thank you

Please clarify what you mean by email groups. Do you mean email accounts that you send and receive message from?

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mailing_lists if by groups you meant a separate mailing list for each email provider.
If you export contacts using a .csv or .ldif file you can import them into Thunderbird using tools -> import. If the order of the fields for each contact is too different from what Thunderbird uses you might want to edit the file first using a spreadsheet program.

Its hard to tell exactly what you want to do since the only group that you expanded you blacked out the folder names.
The first link also doesn't go to anything you uploaded.
You can group all inboxes together, all sent folder together etc. using View -> Folders -> Unified but you can't arbitrarily organize accounts into groups in Thunderbird. There is a View widget you can add to the toolbar (by right clicking on it, selecting customize, and dragging and dropping the widget) that lets you customize whats shown in the folder listing but there is nothing comparable for the folder pane. There is an add-on at http://morelayoutsforthunderbird.mozdev.org that lets you add a couple more layouts (set extensions.strictCompatibility to false in order to install it) but I'm not aware of an add-on that does what you want. All accounts are peers in the folder pane, there is no support for a hierarchy. In general the most you can do is change their order.
Postbox is based on ancient Thunderbird code (as of Postbox 5, I doubt that's changed). Having a stable version of the Mozilla toolkit/Gecko layout engine means its MUCH easier to implement features such as vertical view with double rows like Outlook does or invest in features such as the custom grouping of accounts. On the other hand it means there are many years worth of security patches that never get implemented.

Re: Can I separate groups ie: yahoo, Gmail, etc
Thunderbird has no concept of account groups and I'm not aware of a way to emulate one since it doesn't support any sort of hierarchy of accounts in the folder pane. That's a feature added by Postbox.
