Firefox's programmers are morons
The genius who disabled five of my most useful add-ons needs to find another line of work where his incompetence won't disrupt the lives of millions of users.

Hi,
So...I take it that you haven't checked the Support forum for the info on the actual cause & how to fix it?
Lots of threads on the subject which include the said fix for various versions.

I'm with him, I'm using FF 56 (he's using 54) and I've tried the about:studies thing and it doesn't work. The only thing that does work is setting the date to May 2, but this makes many websites inaccessable.

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
For old versions, if you get the certificate installed that should fix it. One method is here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14831579
If you do not know how to implement that, this does the same thing with a different method: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... 602_older/

Er no, perhaps they should update their browsers or learn to read, this was solved 24 hours ago.Davebo wrote:Perhaps you can stay on topic, instead of being snarky.mightyglydd wrote:Perhaps you should consider a camping holiday together ?Kracov wrote:I'm with him

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
I tried that hotfix, no difference. Are there any replacement addons for menu editor, private tab, save image in folder, tab mix plus, download statusbar, classic theme restorer and greasemonkey? i remember every time i try to upgrade to the latest firefox, most of my stuff gets broken. the UI is bulky and mostly un-configurable. Sometimes things like Youtube don't display properly or there's a lot of lag/errors/stuttering. I mean seriously, I just want to be able to go back to 56 without all these headaches.

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
if you are on firefox 56 as your signature shows up, then there exist NO solution for you - wrong browser, too ancient. anyhow there exists a switch for ancient firefox but that wont resolve the issue but allow using your extension. it ALL was written today, more than once, its up on you to read now.
the magic number is 51 and you are probably part of it

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
Is there a good replacement for bookmark management? Because 66 displays ALL bookmarks, it won't display the folders. Badly managed. Can I set new tabs to always display the homepage instead of firefox stuff? Where are my greasemonkey scripts? Private tab???

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
Thank you everyone for all your various comments. Two of you actually made sense, Kracov, who agreed with my assessment of Firefox's programmers as morons (Thank you, sir), and kerft, who provided the solution to the problem (Thank YOU, sir). I recommend kerft's second reference, https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... 602_older/. The moment I pressed Enter in the Browser Console, all of the disabled add-ons except one sprang back to life. The last one required a restart. Maybe I should thank the morons for providing me an opportunity to waste a couple of hours researching the issue, learning how to create and import a certificate, and acquainting myself with the Browser Console.

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
Here's a list of some of my add-ons/extensions that users should find very good. Kracov, the ones I've highlighted in green are ones that might address things that you mentioned. The extensions in my list work for the latest Quantum versions and probably not for Legacy versions. If you have a legacy version installed, and the name is the same or similar, I guess the extension search can find their replacement.

Re: Firefox's programmers are morons
Thanks Wiggam. For My Homepage that's what I'm using but it won't load an offline html file. I'm trying to find a better way I guess. Maybe a custom firefox top sites thing. What about a hiding or cleanup of the clutter in the Bookmarks menu? There's things I don't need like view sidebar, toolbar, other bookmarks, recent tags.
