Hello,
I don't understand much about computers and much less about what what F.F. is doing lately.
I've tried to download add ons and I get a message with any one I try that says.
"Download failed. Please check your connection. "
I don't understand. I'm on line and I'm logged in. And I have the latest, 56.0 version of F.F.
I'd appreciate any help.
I can't download any add ons

Version 56.0 is far from the latest version of Firefox. The current release version is 66.0.5. You might try updating to that and trying again to install extensions.

Messages like that one are useless. Might as well say "Something went wrong".jgrider wrote:Hello,

In case you haven't heard, there have been issues installing add-ons since late in the day May 3rd.

Re: I can't download any add ons
Try this fix:
Type about:config in the firefox address bar.
After a warning about what you are getting into, and your confirmation, a page opens with a search box at the top.
Search for:
xpinstall.signatures.required
The value set for it will be *TRUE*
Double click the line to toggle it to *FALSE*.
Exit the page. Your Addons may work now.

That is not a fix, that is a blinder that prevents you from knowing validly signed extensions from unsigned ones. Also, it's only supported in ESR releases.MozillaMonkey wrote: xpinstall.signatures.required
