How to erase tracks of old installed AddOns COMPLETELY?

Post by pstover »

It seems to me that Fireshot stores internally (in Profile?) somewhere some information about installed AddOns.

When I later remove resp. uninstall the AddOn then this information is kept.

Now when I restart the browser (or even reboot the computer) and re-install the addon I got sometimes the messages:

"Your trial period is over".

How can this AddOn know this?

The only possibility is that it reads this information from Firefox management store.
Is it written in (which?) profile file?

How can I really, really erase all tracks about previously installations of certain AddOns?

Thank you

Why are you uninstalling / reinstalling an addon that you seem to want to use?

I think some addons do stash their first install dates somewhere hard to find in Fx config or maybe even the registry.

They do this to prevent abusive behavior attempting to get unlimited trial period time.

If you this addon has good value to you, you might just need to pay for it.

I didn't know that extensions installed from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ had trial periods. :?:

A Firefox Refresh will reset your profile and should remove all traces of the extensions.

Make a list of your extensions because you will have to reinstall them.

i think you wont get help to jump over or reset the trial time.

if then it must have been written into the description. otherwise AMO would kick it off.

In the old days you would basically have a script with the number of free days and it would tick them down one by one. It could also be using the system clock etc etc there are many ways without needing to "phone home"

Edit:

Permissions

This add-on can:

Access your data for all websites
Exchange messages with programs other than Firefox
Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history

You seriously installed that

As a test, create a new Profile.
Install only your extension.
Does it work as you want?

If not, then its' check is outside your Profile, & making changes to or searching within your Profile won't help.

So you'd need to figure out where it is storing that data; Registry or some obscurely named file in some obscure location, or...
