Only 20 characters show up in the search bar on google.
The rest must be viewed by sliding the cursor towards the truncated characters.
Also, the cursor on the blank search bar is offset upwards -- half hidden as well.

It worked, but...

...the ability to open mail in the browser is not working anymore.
It hangs up and spins. Not sure that's a good tradeoff!

What UA did you use?
Change it to, http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14835309 & see if that makes any difference for you.

(2.49.2 is old, I'm guessing. But then I should know better to even mention such a thing.)

UA? User Interface? How do I alter it?

User Agent.
If you follow the link, Frank then links to any number of links. (Kind of like Lincoln Logs.)
