How to rename a saved full web page?

Post by terrypin »

For example, I have a page saved with File > Save As...> Web page (complete)
The link is a long one:
Bootloading an AT328P-PU and Approximating the Functionality of an Arduino Uno…on the Cheap!.htm
And the folder created and named automatically is:
Bootloading an AT328P-PU and Approximating the Functionality of an Arduino Uno…on the Cheap!_files

To change the link to a shorter name of my choice, say Bootloading 328.htm, I'm fairly sure that all I used to do was ensure that the folder was renamed as well,say to Bootloading 328_files .

But this no longer appears to work correctly. I get an error "can't find the file at /C:/Users/terry/Dropbox/Electronics/Arduino/Bootloading an AT328P-PU and Approximating the Functionality of an Arduino Uno…on the Cheap!_files/container_002.htm.

There's plainly some aspect I've missed and my method is over-simplified. Anyone able to set me straight please?

You might think about using the SingleFile add-on (save the page as a single HTML file rather than as a folder) or printing to a PDF file as a workaround.

Hi,
You may be lucky to get a response to that Q? after 2 months.

I should think that the suggested extension did "Work a treat"
as Terry mentioned.

Why not just try it?

although solved the error messages is more than clear:
that the folder was renamed as well,say to Bootloading 328_files .

I get an error "can't find the file at
/C:/Users/terry/Dropbox/Electronics/Arduino/Bootloading an AT328P-PU and Approximating the Functionality of an Arduino Uno…on the Cheap!_files/container_002.htm.
i hope you see the relation chip inside?
you rename the file, the folder, but you forgot to edit all the path pointers inside the htm file

if you have solved it with another method - better luck next time ;)

PS or you give right on saving another (short) name -> "Bootloading 328"

@LoveMyFoxy,
Pleased to see you're sorted.

I saved this page quickly as
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14842810
and renamed it in my \Downloads folder to Renamed-Example.html
After closing the original, d-clicking that tidier one brought up the identical thread, all links intact, from where I'm composing this.

A handy little tool. That said, I've used it only about three times since my original post!

@Brummelchen,
Sorry, I didn't understand your reply. Is all now clear?

He was saying that with the old method, you had to change the name of the folder, files and links to the files inside the html.
