Youtube videos won't start when new tab opened

Post by macus »

I'm using FF 52.9. Whenever I open a Youtube video in a new tab, the video will not start playing. The activity indicator just sits there spinning forever. (After a bit, the message "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device" appears.) I have to click on Pause, then on Play, to make the video start.

Opening subsequent videos in the same tab is not a problem (and Autoplay works too). This just started happening a few months ago; prior to that it worked fine. Disabling add-ons doesn't help. Opening the same pages in Edge or Pale Moon works fine. It's gotten annoying. Can anyone help? (Note: Updating to FF Quantum is not an option.)

Thanks for replying. If you were trying to tell me to change it, I did that. It didn't make any difference. The issue remains regardless of whether it's set to True or False.
