I've checked both "Check for new messages at startup" and "Automatically download new messages" and it still doesn't work.
I installed this for my 80 year old dad who's been using Windows Live for years. He's going to get confused if it doesn't start in Inbox.

Tried this too and it doesn't work...
In Thunderbird, right click the folder you want to see when Thunderbird starts. Choose "Properties". Select the contents of the "Location" box and copy it (Ctrl-C).
Right click the Thunderbird shortcut you use and choose "Properties". In the window that comes up, click on the "Shortcut" tab. In the "Target" area, you will see:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"
After that type:
Then paste (Ctrl-V) that "Location" you copied from Thunderbird.

You haven't said where Thunderbird IS opening to if not the Inbox. That might help us understand what's going on.Exoteeth wrote:I've checked both "Check for new messages at startup" and "Automatically download new messages" and it still doesn't work.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately these steps don't work. The check new messages (etc) only works if there is an actual new message.LIMPET235 wrote:Hi,

The last folder that's selected before exiting is the one that starts up.DanRaisch wrote:You haven't said where Thunderbird IS opening to if not the Inbox. That might help us understand what's going on.

Install the "Manually Sort Folders" extension -- https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/th ... t-folders/
Under Options for that extension, click on the "Extra Settings" tab and select "Use a custom folder" and select the Inbox of the account you wish to see at start up.
