hi there
Hope I can explain what I am trying to figure out.
My principal desktop computer does not work, waiting for dell to replace parts, and I have a backup computer, a laptop.
Each weekend I do a backup using Hekasoft, and transfer my TB backup to the laptop, and then restore, so basically the laptop is ready to go, when the desktop does not work.
This time however, the desktop died late in the week, and I am using the laptop now to receive my emails.
This means, the desktop TB wont have emails received since it stopped working, and the laptop TB does not have all the emails that the desktop received before it died.
Sorry, for the rambling, and what I would like to know is there a way to "sync" them now, so when the desktop eventually works again, the emails received on the laptop can be added to the desktop TB
any ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated
thanks
cheers
peter

How is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

Since it is a POP type account, you could use the ImportExportTools Extension ( https://freeshell.de/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html ) to export messages received on the laptop after the date the primary system failed and then import those message on the desktop when it is up and running again.

thanks Dan
I'll keep that in mind and refer to this thread.
I have a warranty contract with Dell, but because I reside in a 3rd world country, their definition of next business day in office service means 3 - 5 working days <smiles>
thnx, have a great right coast day, m8

Dan
thought I would go and have a look at the "Import Export" tool, and I see I have it, when I right click on a folder, such as Inbox
I did not see an option to set a time frame from any given date to another
Which format does one export it in to go straight into TB?
thanks, cheers

Re: copying/adding emails NOT complete backup
There is no time frame option but you can copy all messages in a given time frame to a new folder created for the purpose and then export that folder. The results will be an mbox file duplicating the contents of the exported folder. You can then import that to the other Thunderbird installation using menu path Tools->ImportExportTools->Import mbox file.

hi Dan
Dell came the next day and replaced the MB and RAM, and ol faithful works again ( so far)
I tried the import export tool, and could not do the mbox thingy
I did how ever succeed, using export messages in email format, and then importing them
thank you again for all your assistance and advice
cheers
