Seamonkey and webvideos

Post by moz666 »

Does SM handle webvideos some other way than Firefox since after watching some videos SM starts acting up (blacking out) until it crashes?

What is SeaMonkey RAM usage when this occurs (before it crashes ;-).)?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

No idea (and atm can't even try cause SSL-sites aren't working with SM) but few 100 Mb-1 Gb is my guess.

I was looking for a number, oh => 3GB on 32-bit SeaMonkey.
And maybe not all that much higher, perhaps 4,5, 6 GB on 64-bit SeaMonkey.

There are issues in SeaMonkey, video related (at least on my end), after some point in time of browser / RAM usage.

100's - 1 GB shouldn't (generally) be an issue.

sorta related: played graphic heavy browser game and before game froze on SM (32bit) memory usage by SM was over 3GB while FF68 used couple 100 MB and played game thru.

One process of "firefox.exe" may have been using 100 MB, but current "firefox" are multi-process & "firefox" definitely uses more then "100 MB".

Now, it is quite likely that FF Quantum is more efficient then SeaMonkey in playing it.
Probably more efficient in releasing memory after having played it.
But in no way is "firefox" using 100 MB.

Similarly, SeaMonkey even SeaMonkey x64 will not be as efficient, likely will run into issues - when using higher amounts of (> 3 GB+) RAM, then FF Quantum.

not 100 MB, 700 MB to 1 GB so 1/3 what SM used.
