When I start Fx the pointer is the 'working in background' one for about 6 seconds or so before it turns into the normal pointer. I don't remember this happening before the previous Nightly update. Happens in safe mode and with a new profile. Can any one else confirm this?

Ever since FF 67, opening a new instance of FF from Profile Manager, when there is an existing Profile already open, entails a 5 second delay.
(At lease I still see that on my end - even though some of the associated bugs have been fixed.)
Though I do not see a "busy cursor" so what you're seeing may be different.
(As I always have a version of FF open [used as the back-end for cZ], & since 67 I am less apt to use other methods [other then Profile Manager] to open FF, I always have this delay. Oh, sometimes you just need to pay the price - for speed.)

Restarted.

I got the busy cursor only until the first window (from Session Restore) loaded - at which time hovering (a) window, showed the (cursor) arrow.

(And nothing more, which I feel is a bug, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1556616 ;-).)

Edit.

I had 20190716001037 installed (above).
Checking for updates did not report any - in the particular Profile (i.e., the one I'm in now) - as I also had a different Profile open, & it seems in situations like that, one Profile (perhaps the first one opened) will report an update available (& "owns" it), where the other will not. (Another "quirk" [bug] with profilemania.)

Anyhow, on updating to 20190716211651, I now see the busy cursor - prior to any window loading, & newly, for a couple seconds after the first window has loaded. (Then it reverts to an arrow, as the remainder of the windows load.)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

The cursor I get is not the busy cursor but, as mentioned, the working in background cursor as shown below. In my case I'm not restoring any tabs so there are no sites being loaded.
Image

Filed bug on this change in the pointer. Perhaps it's by design, IDK. 1566808 - Working in Background pointer appears when starting Fx Nightly.

Done the obvious and tried Safe mode or a new clean profile?

That particular "icon", I gather, is a Win10 "thing" (at least it does not exist in Win7).

(I don't know this site, so take what it says with a grain of salt, & proceed carefully...) https://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-spi ... se-cursor/.

Anyhow, not specifically mentioned, but it does show up in one of the screenshots, is "Runtime Broker", & RB only came about > Win7.
And RB, "is linked somehow to Universal Windows Apps (those installed from Windows Store, that came with the operating system, and sideloaded apps)."

Now, I have no clue what a UWA is, I have no clue what WS is, nor do I know what a "sideloaded app" is?

Anyhow, from the bug, & the associated linked bug, & from changes made to make FF "appear" to load faster, including recent Profile Manager changes, I'm going to surmise that this would be the new normal for Win10 users - until Mozilla finds a way to hide the fact from users (by forcibly overriding the displayed cursor or whatever). Likewise thinking there is nothing actually wrong here, you're simply seeing what is (parts of FF loading as background processes, with the cursor indicating that). How's that for a tin foil hat :-).

(Runtime Broker happened to pop up to me, today, http://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopi ... =6&p=27426.)

Ugh. Too much work. Most modern forums just let you paste from the snipping tool. Anyhow, it is a black rectangle that shows up in various random places around the screen. It flashes on, then goes away.

Hi,
The reason that you or anyone else cannot directly post an image is to stop spammers etc., etc., from posting their garbage.
You just upload your image/s to any hosting site & post the [img] link in here.
Takes about 1 minute to complete & would help out.
