Hi,
I occasionally get links from Instagram (on Thunderbird) informing me of new posts on their site; but when I click on them Firefox comes up with a page saying:
The address wasn’t understood
Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (intent) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.
You might need to install other software to open this address.
Any idea how I might fix this?
Thanks,
... john

Re: "The address wasn't understood"
How about an example of one of those failing links?

Hi Dan,
Yes, of course. Sorry.
https://www.instagram.com/_n/media?id=2 ... _profile=0
The link is in a thumbnail image.
When I click on it I get this page.
"The address wasn’t understood

SeaMonkey does the same thing, albeit sending me to a different page, titled "Unknown Protocol"; but with SeaMonkey the image flashes on for an instant, then the "Unknown Protocol" page appears.

I'm not getting the error here under Win10 so it could be an issue of your using Win 7 which may not have a required codex installed.

I think intent:// URLs are an Android thing. Can you think of any reason you might be getting a mobile version of Instagram when you visit the site in Windows?

Hi jscher2000,
Sorry for not replying to your answer before now. For some reason I must have missed the notification.
In order to gain full access to Instagram (i.e. be able to post images) I had to enter the following string into my configuration.
Name: general.useragent.override.www.instagram.com
Value: Mozilla/5.0 (Android; Mobile; rv:52.0) Gecko/52.0 Firefox/52.0
(http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3054091)
...... so that may have something to do with it.
By the way. I am now using Windows 10 and SeaMonkey.
