Continuous crashes

Post by petergo »

hi there

using FF ver 52.9.0 64bit ESR and win 10pro

Have had this problem for weeks, FF starts "not responding" each afternoon.
I found a work around, by restarting FF frequently during the day.

Yesterday, this did not work any longer, and I had to use Task Manager to end FF.
Then restart it, and recover previous session
This DID NOT work anymore either.
After the new restart, within a minute or so, FF not responding again

I restarted the computer, and all worked well till end of my day

I went to update all add on extensions, and noted one that I have, namely
Hotfix for FF bug 1548973 Armagaddon 2.0 version 1.1.2

It offers to update to version 1.1.4

Could this possibly effect FF working and crashing on me so often?
Should I do the update?

thanks, cheers

Have you tried running in Mozilla Safe Mode for a day or so to see if any installed extensions are actually the cause of the trouble? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

good morning Dan

firstly thank you again for the fast response, and next, may I kindly ask you about the FF bug update, whether or not that could make a difference, and should I ?

Later in the day, when it starts crashinfg again, I will exit FF completely, and then restart in safemode

I'll report tomorrow

thanks, cheers

Are you using NoScript ? The addon you reference above runs on a few lines of javascript according to the addons page. There have been some changes I believe to how javascripts runs and it could the addon.

As for the expired cert patch that was disabling addons can likely be removed as the certificate issues have been 'fixed'.

the extension "armageddon patch" is needed for each profile.
either he has messed up his profile - finally - matter of time.
or something else in its windows is confusing firefox, maybe another antivirus than defender.

SORRY!!

Dan says I do not need the patch, so I removed it.

Now Brummelchen says is needed

what should I do please?
Reinstall it or don't worry about it?

How do I find out if as Dan asked, if I am using NoScript?
Is that the name of an add on or something that FF program does?

if it's an add on I dont have it

thanks again
peter

PS.. I am using Win Defender, and free version of Malwarebytes antimalware AND malwarebytes Anti-exploit

OK lets see some crash-reports:
In the address/url bar enter: about:crashes
Right-click the top 2 or 3 crashes (one at time of course) - use 'Copy Link Location' Paste those links back into this thread please.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... 6ac0180724 is not found, maybe you didn't get a good copy?

The 2nd one is showing your crashing because of OOM (Out of Memory). How much memory do you have on your system ?

I think you can re-submit the other ones that did not get sent.

EDIT: Seems that this report is showing a crash with MBAE.dll which is Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.
See list of known issues heres: https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1177

Could try disabling AE for a bit and see how it goes.

EDIT: Also there is an open bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1337105 for this crash, however...That bug was opened 3 yrs ago with no action it seems.

g'day Visitor

thank you again for trying to help me with this problem

I have 8Gb memory ( in fact new, as Dell just replaced it and the MB )

Using task manager i see FF is using about 30% CPU and about 2,000Mb memory

I have disabled AE

sorry I do not understand about what you would like me to do next with the reports.
Are you suggesting and asking I copy the first three in reach category again, and paste them here

much appreciate your assistance

no current crash-rep reported, that one i comment is from 2018-08-24 (!)

outdated java, (8u181)
avast on windows 10 - defender only recommended
outdated: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/a ... warebytes/

OOM large means firefox fail in total, not by extension (my opinion)

52.3 esr very outdated.
graphics driver possible outdated (2017)

Windows 10 (1703) -> outdated that date (above), 1803 was current

sorry, there is nothing we can do except you get a current browser, current system and some current extensions and the rest also. that's the major problem for refusing necessary updates. good luck.

Current Fx with a NEW PROFILE, no junk from the old one added or use another non-antique browser = get on with life.

about:crashes

I went back to this link, and see they all are dated Feb 2019 there abouts

Kindly let me know where do I select that a current crash report be made?

I looked under "Help", and checked for health report, and it shows everything with green dots

so happy to provide you with a current and valid crash report, just how do I get it please?

thanks, cheers
