Re: Continuos crashes
Hi Peter,
As I do not run WIN10, yet...
I cannot comment on what any of those 90 tasks are.
You might find more info in the WIN 10 Fora.

Scroll down to the bottom (Related Tutorials), for more info on what they are & how to disable.....if necessary.
(Might not be advisable though!)
Shawn is very good.
Why not ask about your Firefox problem, there?
Post as many details as possible, including the time/s that the PC is left "alone."
Plus...the number & names of the scheduled tasks.

Re: Continuous crashes
then leave it alone, not your business, nothing you should modify. if firefox get stuck without reason and a clean profile - i repeat myself - then windows is the culprit. use the hint from Limpet and ask in a dedicated windows 10 forum.unfamiliar with task scheduler

Re: Continuous crashes
As a test...
create a new, clean Profile
set it to restore your session on restart
Quit
from your original Profile
copy the sessionstore.* files into this new Profile overwriting what is there
Start up new Profile
Run it... let the computer hibernate... sleep...
See if that hangs/crashes.
On a hang, a WhatIsHang report may provide some insight.
Also make note of FF memory & CPU usage (at the hang).
Any other applications left open during hibernate/sleep that also have issues?
What is overall computer memory & CPU usage after waking up?

Re: Continuous crashes
Mr.L and therube
hi, and sorry for delay
updates on what I am doing.............
tried the portable version, but fear I am to anxious to do anything, scraed it might mess up my FF version I am using.
I did download, and I did run it and open browser, but when it started asking me questions, about defaults etc etc , I quit it, sorry
I have now downloaded "WhatisHang" and hope I am not that stupid next time it hangs to know how to get a report and send it to you
also, I am still 'hanging" around the same time every day, irregardless what I try, such as refreshing and restarting, even with the computer tunning, and not using sleep or hibernate
I am sitting in front of the browser, go to use, and damn it,
not responding"
My solution has been to have task manager permannetly open, exit the FF, and start it again, and recover previous session
Pain in the arse, but it works
keep you posted, and thanks for your patience

Re: Continuous crashes
Sometimes, picking another browser as a spare that will not interfere with Firefox can be useful. Portable Firefox is meant to do that, but there are a few pitfalls where if you did the wrong thing it could interfere.
If you don't have really need your session tabs, just install or use anything that is not Firefox.
If you do need the tabs, here is the easiest way to get them in a text file, but to do it in your old version I think the "bookmark all tabs" should be there when you first right click. Ctrl-Shift-D should work also.

g'day Kerft
please dont get mad at me m8, but I don't understand your message
I am a dumb old fart, and suffer anxiety trying new stuff.
I love FF the version I have and the extensions I have, and aside from this current problem of hanging daily, everything works great
Hopefully I can create a report with this new app "WhatIsHang" and post the report
thanks again Kerft

Re: Continuous crashes
What I am suggesting is that everyone should have a spare web browser, even if it is like Microsoft Edge, because browsers can act up. The other link tells you how to put your open tabs into a notepad text file, so you can see them no matter what.
I will repost the way to copy your tabs to notepad:
With Firefox running, press ctrl-shift-D. Give a name or click ok. In bookmarks menu, right click the newly created folder and click copy. Then the urls will be in the clipboard. Run the notepad program, paste them in, save the file.

Re: Continuous crashes
hi
as usual, FF hanged or is that hung, and I ran the app "Whatishang"
The report is incredibly long, so I did CtrlA + CTRL C and then CTRL V into Word document, and saved it.
How do I attach it or do I just paste it here, even though it is extremely lengthy
thanks
cheers

When Firefox hangs go to your Desktop and double-click the crashfirefox.exe and it will cause Firefox to crash and generate a crash-report we can work with.
Once get a crash created open from the address bar: about:crashes
Right-click the latest crash, usually at top of the list, use: Copy link Location...
Paste that link here.

Re: Continuous crashes
If its that lengthy I don't think I want to look at it. I'm not sure where you could upload the file, it sound like its too big for here but I don't usually paste/upload large data files, maybe some here could you better guidance on that. Ages ago we used to use a site: pastbin but I just looked and it appears you now have to login to use it. I am very cautious and don't create logins just for a 'single-use'.petergo wrote:thanks TheVisitor

Re: Continuous crashes
the crash report is a single link!
Viewing crash reports: To view your crash reports from within Firefox:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mo ... sh-reports
Submit a link, looks like this

Re: Continuous crashes
(Presumably he's not actually crashing ? so he's not getting crashes in about:crashes? If there are related crash reports, certainly the URLs should be posted.)
Pastebin or similar work for posting (links to) long texts.

Re: Continuous crashes
stuck means no crash, idd. thats why TheVisitor recommended the firefox-crasher to get some valid and current informations. the crash-rep need to submitted to mozilla servers, only then its complete and read-able for us. it wont help to grab a locale report and link it, thats nonsense.
