Re: Continuous crashes
Mr. L
I can't recall installing any new program.
I have noticed that Microsoft seems to almost every day install some "app"
I do not even check them out, no idea what they are or do
cheers

Because they're mostly posting geek v geek nonsense, enough to make your head spin, logical troubleshooting is the way to go, have you even bothered to read those links I posted ???petergo wrote: If you are not interested, how about not following what kind people are suggesting and trying to help me
Hint, if 68 works with a New Clean Profile that points to a number of possibilities doesn't it

Re: Continuous crashes
HEY! everyone who has kindly helped me with advice, kindness, patience and suggestions
as usual when I leave my home office I put the machine into hibernation, and always when I return and wake her up, FF is unresponsive
Before I did that today, I thought more about Mr.L asking if there was anything I had added recently, and this time I recalled
I added WinPatrol a while ago.
I disable winpatrol
When I got home, FF is working
Hopefully, this is not a fluke but a resolution
will let you know how the next few days go
love all you folks, you're terrific
cheers

Re: Continuous crashes
it was a fluke, very sad................
No problems over the weekend, but this afternoon Monday Aug 26th at around 4pm'ish, when I woke the computer from hibernate FF was not responding.
I did suffer a crash a few days ago
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... 2ec0190825
don't know if it's related
fingers crossed there is a clue in that crash report
another clue or piece of the puzzle, it does it just once around the same time daily
thanks, cheers

Re: Continuous crashes
Malwarebytes Anti-Expoit (MBAE)?
Disable/remove it.
See if your hangs/crashes subside?
Look on the mbam website & see if they have any reports/recommendations.

Re: Continuous crashes
You mean the crash report with a huge red block marking the mbae64 module? - Look under Modules on that report!petergo wrote: I did suffer a crash a few days ago

Yeah, I'd say it was related and it is the updating of MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit once a day causing the problem.
Uninstall MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit and delete its folder in ProgramData, which otherwise gets left behind.
The latest version of MalwareBytes includes ant-exploit and renders this standalone as not required.

The above is not a 'magic bullet' solution, as it could still be something else. But, I reckon, that something else updates once a day and that something else is also totally unrelated to Firefox, I mention that, this being the Firefox Support forum.

Re: Continuous crashes
g'day Rube and Frank
1.. I had uninstalled MBAE previously as it was suggested some time back, but FF still kept not responding around the same time each day, so after about a week, I elected to reinstall it
2.. This time, I did the extra step that Frank advised and removed the folder from ProgramData.after uninstalling MBAE
3.. Frank, main reason I do not want to upgrade FF is because I am deeply in love with your Australis Scrollbars and Customize Palette extensions, and can't imagine living without them. May I take this oppo to thank you again for them, m8
ok, I'll wait for later today, and see what happens to FF if it will hang or not
thanks guys
cheers

Re: Continuous crashes
Hi Peter,
Just once more...
Please, do not set your PC to "HIBERNATE" as it has caused problems.
This is irrespective of anything else that occurs.
Set it to "SLEEP" instead.

Re: Continuous crashes
proper recovery after windows hibernate was resolved with firefox 61(.0.2) - not before.
https://www.ghacks.net/2018/09/18/preve ... -10-start/
in any other case firefox was unstable or crashed or nothing.

Mr.L
howzitgoin' m8?
I appreciate your advice and suggestion.
Kindly forgive me, this is my plan.
I have been using hibernate since before you began radio sailing <smiles> and only recently, the past month or so has it, possibly caused a problem, and only with FF, no other programs or apps I have running when I go into hibernation.
So, I would like to try later today to see if Lion King's suggestion works vav removing the MBAE.
If when I wake Mr Computer from hibernate, problem still there I owe you a dozen tinnies of fosters, and the next day onwards I will use sleep instead of hibernate <smiles>
fingers crossed
aand thanks
peter

Re: Continuous crashes
Hi Peter,
No probs.
Was just an idea/suggestion coz of a few reported problems previously with hibernate.
Maybe "they" fixed it in WIN10?

(@B, that looks to deal with a restart/shutdown situation - rather then hibernate/sleep.)
