export emails by date

a while back i transferred emails from thunderbird on one computer to a new one.
I have now realised that i used the wrong backup to do this and some emails are missing on the new pc.
On the new pc I now have all my emails from the old pc up to the backup date (date1) and emails from the start date on the new computer (date2).
Therefore i have a gap between date1 and date2
Is there a way i can export from the old computer emails between these two dates?
Using Linux on both pcs
Thunderbird v60.6.1 on the old pc and 60.8.0 on the new pc

On the old computer, create a new folder (possibly a sub-folder of Local Folders). Sort the messages by date, then select all messages within the date range you wish to export. Copy those messages to the new folder just created. Export all messages from that new folder.

Out of curiosity, how did you export the messages in the first place?

thanks for the suggestion. I have my emails filed into many folders (100s) so i am not sure this method will work for me.
My original transfer was done by copying a backup and restoring but i used the wrong (old) backup

You could create a saved search folder that contains all folders. You could then select and copy all messages for a certain date range to another folder. That would let you export the contents of a single folder. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Saved_Search

I suggest you use the ImportExportTools add-on to export/import a mail folder.
