Re: The future of Seamonkey?
Am wondering when we'll be seeing the next stable release of SeaMonkey 2.53
Hopefully, by Christmas.
Am happily using 2.49.5 without any issues.

Re: The future of Seamonkey?
Like most/all irc dev channels it's a very dull old read, but it will help people to know what's going on, dev-wise.SnoutSpout wrote:(EDIT: According to
https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/Stat ... 2019-09-15
the freenode channel is up)
No need for that Chatzilla stuff though, just follow the log version - https://freenode.logbot.info/seamonkey
Failing that, just go here once a year and something is bound to have changed and been announced - https://www.seamonkey-project.org/

Where will users get support when this forum is shutdown and archived?

There is a support newsgroup for Seamonkey https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/for ... er-support
and a subreddit. https://old.reddit.com/r/seamonkey/ There may be other ways.

Jeeze, you're a pessimistic sod, 2020 is 3 months away. Yes, SM will still be in development and I think we can do without your voice of doom around here, thanks!WaltS48 wrote:Will SeaMonkey still be in development in 2020?
As I know most SM users would rather eat worms than use a Mozilla, Google or Reddit forum, then, if needed, we have here - http://seamonkey.boards.net/ (with https log in!)Where will users get support when this forum is shutdown and archived?
Hardly a massive problem, took 10 minutes to set up.

The fun thing. Going back to 2016 you you see the same questions. We are not doing good but we are doing ok given the circumstances. I don't expect thit to change any time soon. Given that we can now do local builds on the build servers the next release shouldn't take a year too.

worms is one thing. Wasting time and getting eye cancer just by looking at them is another

If this is not just a test but here to stay let me know and I will put it on the website as a support forum.

Well, it's up and running now and ready for everyone's registering delight, i.e. it is a real forum, but membership is a bit low atm (possibly because I only created 2 hours ago).frg wrote:If this is not just a test but here to stay let me know and I will put it on the website as a support forum.> then, if needed, we have here - http://seamonkey.boards.net/ (with https log in!)
However, the idea is that it would swing into proper action if/when here (mozillaZine) closed. All communities are fragile entities, but this way the 'break in your transmission' will be very minimal.
At that point you could link it from the website and, if needed, Council members could become joint Admins or whatever.

Thanks Frank. I still hope mozillazine will continue to exist. Will book the url and see how it pans out here. Personally I wouldn't want to be an admin on another forum. Stretched thin already and I am also an admin on a non browser related forum which soon needs a version updated (not looking forward to it).
If this on here eats the dust consider to do a "proper" forum using phpBB or another software. proboards.com might have some privacy issues reading the terms. If a few others help out I think funding can be made available.
