Latest Firefox update won't render images

After a series of version updates (starting about a month ago) Firefox selectively refuses to render images - not on all websites, but some. Am I alone in this? Is there a fix?

In any case, the same websites work OK with Chrome and Safari, so if this persists (as well as other unwelcome changes to Firefox) I guess I will have to sadly say goodbye to a trusty application.

If not alone then in a very small minority.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

could be a remnant of a profile from pre-quantum times, as suggested a new profile could help out.

is there special page to look into?
