Firefox And HDMI

Post by alpine5536 »

I tried to watch online content using Firefox and sending it to my TV through my HDMI cable. Something in Firefox blocked me. I then tried it through IE and it worked fine. What in Firefox is blocking the HDMI feed ?

From what sites is the content? Does it work on your computer screen? Also see here https://support.vhx.tv/article/756-drm-and-hdcp#HDCP and try playing at a lower quality or resolution.

I'm using my DirecTV account and it won't load or play on the computer screen either. Also I'm not getting any error messages. I click on the watch on computer button and nothing happens. I believe something in Firefox is not allowing the feed. Fire up IE and click on watch on computer button and no problem.

This thread sounds like if you spoof your user agent in Firefox to look like Chrome it will work https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/3846
The about:config support for "site specific" user agent spoofing are being removed from Firefox. So, get an extension that lets you spoof, for only that site.
If the extension needs you to provide the text yourself, a list of user agents to choose from is here: https://myip.ms/browse/comp_browseragen ... gents.html
You could try
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.9 Safari/537.36
or look for newest Chrome user agent.

I have gone into Chrome and Firefox and enabled Flash and set permissions etc. and nothing works. No big deal. I will just continue to use IE, it works great. Thanks for the suggestions, I will mess around with some of them when I get the time and see if I can figure it out. In the mean time, Thanks for the replies.
