Different address books for different accounts

Post by grzz76 »

I use Thunderbird to read mail for several different accounts (work, personal, etc). Thus, I also keep different address books which I would like to be made visible to only the relevant account. In the past, I have used the extension morefunctionsforaddressbook which made this possible. However, the author of this extension is no longer updating this. Do you know of any comparable extension?

Thank you.

The CardBook documentation states: "Restrict address book use by mail account (for email autocompletion, email collection and contact registration)"

Thank you. I checked it out but it isn't quite as flexible as what morefunctionsforaddressbook did (I can only include or exclude one addressbook per account). Also, I couldn't find documentation for CardBook so had a difficult time with it.

The Cardbook documentation is not super expansive, but there is some at: https://cardbook.icu/forum/

Besides that, the forum is fairly responsive, so you should receive an answer to your question... maybe even by the developer.

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... l-toprated supports using categories as contact groups but doesn't mention any support for auto-complete. Have you considered using the contacts side bar instead of auto complete?

"The compose message window has a optional Contacts Sidebar. You can enable it by either pressing F9 or selecting View -> Contacts Sidebar. The setting is sticky. The Contacts Sidebar lists the names of each contact (in the selected address book). You can select one or more and either press the "Add to To:", "Add to Cc:" or "Add to Bcc:" button, or drag and drop them to the desired header line. You can enter a name in its "Search for" field and it will hide any entries that don't match what you're typing (sort of similar to auto complete). The list box normally displays just the contacts name but if you click on the column control (its a squiggly little square on the right) for that sidebar you can also select a "Email" column."
