Lighting Google Calendar - Authentication failure:undefined

Post by jupiter9 »

I changed the ISP. From this moment I can't use my Google Calendars. Lighting displays a Google window asking for login / password. Informs that rights have been granted. Everything passes without error. However, I do not have access to calendars and I have errors in the Thunderbird console:

Code: Select all

Lightning: [calGoogleSession] Authentication failure: undefined gdataSession.jsm:282
Lightning: [calCachedCalendar] replay action failed: null, uri=googleapi://xxxx@gmail.com/?calendar=xxxxxxxx.calendar.google.com, result=null, operation=[xpconnect wrapped calIOperation] calCachedCalendar.js:345
Lighting asks for the password again and again. Thunderbird password manager does not store this password.

What has been done:
* I deleted key4.db and logins.json files. Did not help
* I reinstalled Lighting addon - without results

I would be very grateful for your help.
Best regards.

What version of Thunderbird and Lightning are you using?

Do you mean Google asks for the password again and again?

Thank you for your interest in the topic.

* Thunderbird 68.2.1 (32 bit)
* Lighting 68.2.1

Yes, Googole window pops up asking to log into the account. I enter my e-mail address and then the password. Then the information "Provider for Google Calendar wants to access your Google Account" appears. I click "Allow". The window disappears without error. When I click "Sync" the above procedure is repeated. Information appears in the log "Authentication failure: undefined ".

I'm not seeing any reports of that problem in other forums.

Do calendars sync after the designated time without clicking "Sync"?

You can set the refresh rate in the Calendars Properties dialog.
Right-click on the calendar in the Calendar list, select Properties > Refresh Calendar.

Update to 68.2.1 of the Provider add-on:

Thanks, updating the Provider solved the problem!:) I did not think about it. Strange that it did not update automatically.

I am having a related problem. I have installed TB, Lightning and Provider, all version 68.2.1, on Windows 10, with three Google calendars. Every time I restart Thunderbird, Google asks me to log in and approve access for Provider 3 times. I have found some discussions of this from years ago, but none of them have helped. My Google account shows permissions for both TB and Provider.

Thanks for any advice.

RogerC, i can only guess. Check if the calendar passwords are saved in Options> Security> Passwords> Saved Passwords. (oauth: xxxxx@gmail.com (Google Calendar OAuth Token). If not, you can move the key4.db and logins.json files somewhere else from your profile (maybe they are corrupted?). When you start Thunderbird, it will forget all your passwords (for email accounts, calendars etc..). Now try entering Google Calendar password. If it doesn't work, restore these files back to your profile.

There are 4 oauth tokens - they are of the form 'oauth:xxxx(Google Calendar Oauth Token)' - i.e. do not include '@gmail.com'. The username on the right hand side is the same 'xxxx' as in the token.
I will try moving the two files you suggest, and report back.

Thank you.

This made no difference. On reloading, I had to log in to gmail and 3 calendars. Closing and reopening again asked for the three calendar logins. There are now only 3 Oauth tokens, in the same form as before.

The OAuth2 authentication depends on cookies being allowed for google in TB Options/Privacy. Are cookies allowed but possibly being removed by some cleaner utility?

RogerC, maybe there is a message in the error console (ctrl + shift + j) related to this problem? I would also try to deactivate all add-ons except "Lighting" and "Google Calendar Provider" and see if that changed anything.
i.e. do not include '@gmail.com'.

I think this is correct. You can log into google services with the account name alone, without the domain.

It's a new computer - I have not installed anything that clears cookies. I don't think Windows Security would do this.
When I log in to the Calendars again, another 3 tokens appear in the list.

That is strange. I have no idea. Are you logging in with your full email address (for example mygooglename@google.com) or just your username (for example mygooglename) ? If only a username, try logging in with the full email address - with domain.

Is there anything suspicious in the error console? (ctrl + shift + j) ?
