Thunderbird threaded view for all folders

Post by Dun »

Hi,

I am using threaded view as explained in Enable threading section
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/me ... hunderbird

How to change it for all folders and subfolders for all accounts?

Select the inbox folder in the folder pane. In the folder listing left click on the small square widget (its unlabeled) at the far right end of the column headers. This is normally just to the right of "Date". Select "apply columns to" at the bottom of that list box and then "folder and its children".

Repeat as necessary. If all of your folders are child folders of the inbox then you only need to do it once per account.

I suspect the Thunderbird Conversations add-on does that for you as a side effect (as long as its installed). "This addon provides a conversation view for Thunderbird, grouping messages together and allowing you to reply "inline" thus providing a more efficient workflow."

Yes, I have tried that. However the apply option does not set up threaded view.

Thunderbird Conversations seems to mess up conversations the way I don't want.

I have fixed it using mouse macro and just repeated for every folder

"However the apply option does not set up threaded view."

I remember it as propagating both the column settings and the view -> sort by choices. The former works, the latter doesn't, when I try it. My mistake. If you ever want to experiment (since you used mouse macros to solve the problem):

There is also a SortPref add-on but "changing control values only affect new folders or those with a rebuilt index." (removed the old *.msf files). It doesn't support version 68.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86845 documents the settings.
