I only use one profile. Whether the profile is refreshed or a new profile is created, the profile name changes, but I have a number of shortcuts referring to the profile which I would have to find and edit, a painful task. What would be the best method to retain the same profile name.
Also, is there way to have a folder I created without the Profile Manager, be included in Firefox?

Re: Retaining old profile name for new
(Ever since FF 67, oh, suppose you need to be a bit more careful... & I don't really care to "look into" whatever crap 67+ brings...)
In the good 'ol days...
Quit FF
Manually edit profiles.ini, replacing the new name/Path with the old name/Path
Start up FF .
(Backup first, including existing profiles.ini & whatever other associated files 67+ uses.)
Profile Manager should allow you to Rename profiles
So Rename the old to OLDNAME.old
Rename the new to OLDNAME
Then you'll have OLDNAME.old, which is your old profile
And OLDNAME, which is your new profile, named as old

Note that installs.ini is used as a backup to store dedicated profile data.

Re: Retaining old profile name for new
Thanks for the reminder. I looked at it as well and saw that they share data. By dedicated profile data, do you mean the currently active profile?

Re: Retaining old profile name for new
Thanks again for the links. I examined the .ini files, and it seems that anything that is possible as long the rules are followed. All this poses additional questions relating to profiles, which require a new post with an appropriate title.
