IMAP Attachment Problem

Post by Jim.Sputnik »

I sent four photos via email from my Android cell phone's Email app (IMAP). When I got home, the email in my sent folder in Thunderbird is without the four photos. It briefly showed a paper clip icon in Thunderbird, but that disappeared, and the four photos, as I said, aren't in the email. How do I fix this?

How is that account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

If the photos are still on the phone try sending them again, one at a time.

Sending them one at a time still results in the problem. I see the paper clip icon (attachment icon) for a bit, and then it disappears. I open the email, and there is no attachment.

Have you checked the Sent folder on the server to see if the attachment appears there?

Sorry for the late reply. I checked the server and the attachment is not there, either.

OK, then. That's why the attachment is not available in Thunderbird. It was not on the server for Thunderbird to access and display. Something is stripping off the attachment on the server side.

Here's an update. My webhost said I was over my disk space limit so they removed attachments from my emails. I'm going to go back to POP to avoid this in the future.
