Unwanted Quick Filter toolbar

Post by FFman »

Thunderbird 68.4.1 (32-bit) - Windows 7 Home.

Periodically the Quick Filter toolbar appears which I don't want.
I remove it by View > Tooolbars > untick Quick Filter bar but then it appears again some time later.
Does anyone know why it keeps being displayed?
Thanks.

BTW it also did this in older versions of TB as well, not just the latest.

Do you run any sort of clean up utility on that computer, perhaps Ccleaner?

Thanks for the reply DanRaisch.

Yes, I run CCleaner but the Site Preferences box is unticked.

For Thunderbird I have the following set in CCleaner:
Internet Cache - Ticked
Internet History - Ticked
Cookies - UNTICKED
Download History - Ticked
Last Download Location - Ticked
Session - Ticked
Site Preferences - UNTICKED
Saved Form Information - Ticked
Saved Passwords - UNTICKED
Compact Databases - Ticked

You're right, it's CCleaner.
I just ran it and then TB and the Quick Filter bar was showing.

I did some testing and it's the Session option that did it.
Unticking the Session box is the solution.
Thanks again.

Ccleaner has frequently been found to be problematic for Firefox and the usual recommendation on these forums is to simply "tell" Ccleaner to not touch Firefox at all.

That goes for Thunderbird too, if you're using it.
