It's a bug. Try re-installing the extension.

Click the More link on that extension to see the existing version number and use that, I reckon.

I don't have that full extension, but 4 of the individual standalone toolbar buttons and had the same problem as you and they worked fine again after re-installing.

The full 1.1 extension seems to not work in 2.53.x. Saw some errors in the log during startup. Not sure about 1.1.1

Nope 1.1.1 does not find Cu.import("resource:///services-common/stringbundle.js"); in suite_browser.jsm

Should be a relative easy fixer if someones wants to do it:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1335877

Bug 1335877 - Remove resource://services-common/stringbundle.js from gecko

Was removed in 54 so I wonder why the add-on was marked compatible with 56?

Well, that didn't work... uninstalled twice, reinstalled and still no buttons. Will try the TB one next. Tks.

It is simply incompatible with anything Gecko 54 / SeaMonkey 2.51 or newer in its current state.

frg,

Thanks, hope someone can fix it. Toolbar Buttons is, to my mind, an essential extension for SeaMonkey.

Moved to SeaMonkey Builds as it's about a pre-release version.

Maybe try installing the individual Toolbar buttons you need? I know they work in 2.53.1/2

therube,

And you would be correct.... didn't have that version and didn't look at it until you mentioned it. Nice. Thanks.
