2.53.2 (2020-02-02): session restore does not work

Post by teruna »

Hello,

I am experiencing a bug in WG9s' 2020-02-02 version of SeaMonkey 2.53.2: session restore does not work. Normally, when opening the browser a group of tab is restored (that was saved when closing the browser for the last time) but this does not happen in the mentioned version - only a single (empty) tab is opened. The data, however, is still in the profile since when reverting to the version from 2020-01-28 (that's the latest version that I have) the session is restored normally. I am using Linux and this bug occurs both in my own builds as well as with the builds on WG9s' homepage. To rule out any interference from add-ons I tried to start SeaMonkey in safe mode but this does not change anything. If I configure SM to open a predefined group of tabs on startup (rather than session restore), then these tabs are correctly loaded.

Is anyone else experiencing this bug? Please let me know if further details are needed.

Thanks!

I'm not seeing that on the 2020-02-02, 2020-01-31 or 2020-01-28 build. I usually have around 10 tabs open on closing and they are restoring OK.

I just tried with a new (empty) profile: the 2020-02-02 version does not restore (or even save) the session but the 2019-01-28 version does. Maybe it is only an issue on Linux? A stupid question: WG9s' Windows version are from 2020-02-02 09:35 and his Linux versions from 2020-02-02 16:00. Is it maybe possible that their sources differ?

In addition to the "tab reorder" bug in Bill's 0202 build, there is also the theme related bug - which did cause Session Restore to open up blank, 2.53.1 Theme and Extensions Bug.

(Read that & check the dates of the affected builds... 0131 what I was running worked. And 0202 too - except for its tab reorder bug. Not sure of the status of 0128 offhand?)

Should be fixed tomorrow. I put in a bad patch fixed it but Bill did an early build und unfortunately picked up the bad one.

therube. I was able to confirm the problem and took out the other patch too. Sessisonrestore should work again next time too.

Many thanks! I can confirm that session restore works again with today's build.

To make it more exiting this one still has a different problem with filing a new bookmark or adding a new folder in the library. Fixed in the next build.
