Can't watch streaming content on FF in Linux Mint 19

Post by fdhealy4 »

When I try to view streaming programs in FireFox I get a yellow bar across the top saying "When on Netflix I see a yellow bar at the top of the page that says 'Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later." Nothing looks like it is downloading. I just installed Mint 19.3 and trying to get it setup. I searched the internet but haven't found a solution so thought I'd ask here. Anyone else run into the same problem with streaming? I also uncheck the DRM and rechecked it after rebooting FF.

Is this FF from Mozilla or via your distro?
Does your distro get (download) DRM or associated files from Mozilla?
Is DRM (& other codecs, probably through FFmpeg in Linux?) enabled in FF?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Do you see the Widevine plugin listed in "about:addons -> Plugins" ?
