Sound cutter

Post by TPR75 »

Since update to SeaMonkey 2.53.1 I was noticing some problem with sound for incoming messages. Looks like SeaMonkey is cutting short (interrupting) sound for incoming message.

Under Windows 7 default sound for new incoming messages is short:

Code: Select all

c:\Windows\Media\Windows Notify.wav
I'm using sound from "X3: Reunion" game:
https://mega.nz/#!B8JHkIpC!dQWdX1YDG2wT ... SIID93n3mM
... because I like it!

I'm not saving passwords for e-mails. Safety reasons and memory practice/exercise. When I'll start SeaMonkey I'm beginning with e-mails - one account at time (from top to bottom) by clicking "down triangle" (like in example below):

Image

When I hit this "triangle button" and long sound for incoming message is still active then sound is interrupted (cut off/short). It's not required to actually download new messages for another e-mail account - just press "triangle button" to interrupt/cut off sound.

Normal behavior is when sound for new incoming messages is interrupted by the same sound for messages from another account (we don't need "a choir"). This "cut off/short" behavior is a bug.

Hi,
Your image is way too small to make out any details.
Make it around 600 x 500 or so.

Wait for a SeaMonkey expert.

Moving this to SeaMonkey Support...

Click on image to open big one in new tab.

Please, move it back to SeaMonkey Bugs because it's a bug. Bug for 2.53.1 - it IS working correct for 2.49.5.

O.K. If you say so.
Back to SeaMonkey Bugs..

(Just thought it may receive more immediate attention in the Support fora.)

Thank you. I just need confirmation from other users... and then from devs that they can fix it...

Another two things related to this:
1) I can click LMB new message and sound is still played (not cut/interrupted),
2) if I click RMB on message (e.g. to mark it as SPAM) then sound will be cut/interrupted,
3) if I click LMB on some Menu part (e.g. View) and new message will come when I'm just looking (not clicking there) then sound will be not played at all (regardless of its length).

I found one patch which might be involved but hard to say. Can't just back it out because did go in some time ago and is a security fix. Would need to rebase too much. Unless someone else is able to track it down it will probably not be solved anytime soon. Sorry.

I don't remember such behavior but in SeaMonkey 2.53.1 sound for incoming message isn't played when user is browsing Incoming folder. Is it correct? For me it's a bug but maybe it's a "new feature"... ;-)
